The common materials of wheelchair forks are mainly aluminum alloy, steel and carbon fiber.

Aluminum alloy has become the mainstream choice due to its light weight and corrosion resistance, which can reduce the overall weight of the wheelchair while maintaining good strength, making it easier for users to control, and suitable for daily indoor and outdoor use.

Steel is known for its ultra-high strength and durability, although it has a large weight, it can withstand high-strength impact and pressure, and is suitable for special needs that need to cope with complex road conditions or heavy loads;

Carbon fiber material has both light weight and high strength characteristics, which is the preferred choice for high-end wheelchair forks, with its high elastic modulus, which can effectively absorb vibrations and provide a comfortable driving experience, but the cost is high, and it is mostly used in competitive or high-end custom wheelchairs.

From a structural point of view
It usually consists of two fork shoulders for mounting the front wheels, with a connection above the fork shoulders. The coupling is connected to the front wheel frame of the wheelchair by bearings, and there are stiffeners on the outside of the fork shoulders of the plate-like structure to enhance the structural strength and elasticity of the fork. The common wheelchair fork is suitable for 5-8 inch front wheels, and there are generally two axle holes on the fork shoulder, which can be installed by rotating different shaft holes according to the diameter of the front wheel.

In terms of functionality
The main function of the fork is to achieve flexible steering, allowing the wheelchair to change the direction of travel according to the user's needs. Some advanced forks also have a shock absorption function, through a special shock absorption structure, such as a tension spring assembly, etc., to absorb the impact of the ground, reduce the feeling of bumps, bring users a more comfortable and stable travel experience, and greatly improve the safety and comfort of wheelchairs on different road surfaces.
